Dr. Jonah Kangogo is a risk management professional with expertise in Corporate Governance, Regulatory Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Operational Risk and Business re-engineering. He has worked with Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited (SCBL) for the last 19 years having joined the organization in 2001 in its Business Technology Division. He has worked across various functions in the bank: Operational Excellence (OpEx), Vendor Management, Information Technology, Customer Service, Operational Risk and Business Compliance.
Dr. Kangogo has conducted Operational Risk and Business Compliance reviews in United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Zambia, Pakistan and Cote d’Ivoire (CDI). Jonah is currently the Principal, Financial Markets Compliance for Kenya and East Africa at the SCBL. He is a member of the governing council of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) where he chairs the Audit, Risk & Governance Committee. He is also a trustee of the JOOUST Staff Retirement Pension Scheme and Standard Chartered Bank Pension Fund. He chairs the Audit and Risk Committee of the JOOUST Staff Retirement Pension Scheme.
Jonah obtained his doctor of philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Supply Chain Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) where he taught supply chain management-related units at post-graduate level. He has also taught risk management units at the Africa Nazarene (ANU) Business School. Jonah is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and is a member of the Chartered Insititute of Securities & Investments (MCSI). He has training/ certifications in Corporate Governance, ACI dealing, Pensions Management, ACI Operations, Computer Programing, Computer Networking, Business Leadership. He has a Master of Science in Procurement and Logistics and an Executive Master of Business Administration. His research interests are in Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Risk Management and has published in international peer-reviewed academic journals.
He is an avid reader and takes an interest in mentorship and environmental conservation issues.
